Arthur Laffer’s column in the Wall St. Journal last week spelled it out. The Obama Administration’s inaction on pushing Congress to make the Bush tax cuts permanent, is having, and will yet have, an immensely negative impact on the economy. The other shoe is about to drop and he explains why in very clear language. Read about it here. Laffer says that a failure to make the Bush tax cuts permanent will ultimately lead to an “economic collapse” in 2011. He went on to say:

The result will be a crash in tax receipts once the surge is past. If you thought deficits and unemployment have been bad lately, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Laffer is right on the money, and you should look out for yours.

Can someone explain to me by what logic we could classify ourselves as anything other than modern day serfs, or sharecroppers on the Big Gubmint Plantation? Are we not stripped of the fruits of our labors in the same manner as a serf or sharecropper? Can we actually keep the land that we supposedly own without paying a Nobleman for the ‘right’ to do so? Is not the Federal Income Tax exactly analagous to the sharecropper paying the landlord a share of the crop he grew as rent on the land? It’s as if we rent our jobs from the government via the taxes we pay. This is a disgusting system that would have made the Founders of the country ill to see how compliant and tolerant we are of this oppression.
To them, it wasn’t the amount, it was the principle. Just because our so called greatest generation forfeited the principle argument long ago, does that mean that we have to abide by that? At what level of taxation will we stand up and be heard if we are not willing to act now, 100%? I doubt it. How about when the money is worth nothing? Hyper-inflation is nothing but another form of tax instituted by governments with no fiscal discipline and it is in our future. They are already introducing legislation that will allow the Federal government to effectively seize your 401k’s and IRA’s. Don’t believe it? Read about it here.

Wake up!

Here it comes, folks.

From WSJOnline…

Not mentioned in here is the recent United Nations report that says this proposed cap and trade regime might (might!) reduce global temperatures by .1% by 2050. More remarkable because the UN buys into all this bunk and that’s the best they could come up with. That’s because human activity does not have an appreciable effect on the Earth’s cooling and warming cycles, or climate change in general. (They call it climate change now because the Earth actually entered another cooling cycle about ten years ago.) Sorry AlGore, but facts are stubborn things.

I know, I know, hundreds of experts whose livelihoods depend on continued public funding of their research into global warming all say it’s a fact. Hundreds more say it’s just normal cycles and there ain’t much we can do about, but we’re not allowed to listen to those guys.

This is what you get when junk science, anti-capitalists and politicians get together. These are the same people that won’t let us build any nuclear power plants or develop our huge natural gas reserves from shale. Like it or not our energy needs will continue to increase (growing population, advances in technology, etc…) unless of course we dramatically lower our standard of living. By the way, have you noticed that the free market is already capitalizing on the demand for environmentally sound products? So why distort the market with ill conceived government mandates? Isn’t that what happened in the mortgage market and got us into the economic mess we’re in today? (See also – Medicare)

So feel free to ask the questions – If this is settled science, why do they have to ram this bill through under cover of darkness? What exactly are the benefits compared to a significant decline in our standard of living and economic competitiveness, not to mention the as yet unknown unintended consequences? Or is this just another way for liberals to control as much of our lives as they can, and in a very big way?

Finally, a nod to the preferences of the ‘unbiased’ mainstream media. I bet most of you didn’t even know this was happening.

***Update – read this from WSJ Online – From Australia to France, politicians are running AWAY from the Climate Change hysteria. There is no Man Made Global Warming, the truth is finally coming out. Yet Chairman Obeyme is bent on destroying our economy, and Capitalism in general, through energy taxes. Does anyone really think this is about saving the environment?***

Craig T. Nelson says he’s done paying taxes to a government that offers no representation. I’m sure there are many, many thousands of folks that agree with his sentiments. I have no idea whether Mr. Nelson is a liberal or a conservative, but when a Hollywood type expresses this type of frustration and disenfranchisement, it can only indicate that these sentiments are far more widespread than just this one individual’s opinion.

He’s talking about starting a real Tea Party that denies that for which the government lusts insatiably, your money. I believe that we’ll see more of this type of protest. This is an inevitable reaction to the extreme policies of economic fascism being implemented with each passing day of the Chairman Obeyme’s Reign Of Fairness.

You’re kidding right? Deficit spending is unsustainable? I thought that this deficit spending was the key to reviving economic growth? Isn’t more better? Speaking in New Mexico this week, the dilettante in chief warned us about our deficit spending problem, and the implications for the future.
From Bloomberg…

May 14 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama, calling current deficit spending “unsustainable,” warned of skyrocketing interest rates for consumers if the U.S. continues to finance government by borrowing from other countries.
“We can’t keep on just borrowing from China,” Obama said at a town-hall meeting in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, outside Albuquerque. “We have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt.”

Now, its not that I think he’s wrong, there are many Conservatives who’ve been saying this for years. My question is this: why, after proposing a $3.59T budget – including the largest single year deficit of all time by any measure, is he pointing this out? One does not naturally follow the other. I mean, it’s not like he went to the local D.C. hip-hop club on Friday night, and woke up Saturday morning with a $3.59T bar tab credit card receipt for in his pocket. It’s been pretty obvious to everyone – including him. And now, he warns us about spending deficits?
I know his subsequent comments had to do with health care costs, but there’s something else here. Did China convey that they would not be buying any more debt? It’s possible, but I think that its something else. I believe he is laying the predicate for a massive tax increase on ALL Americans – not just those rich bastards. Get ready, this is the same bait and switch that Clinton pulled at the start of his Presidency – promise a middle class tax cut and then raise taxes.
Brilliant!!!
