So, what’s the point?
Our liberty is under constant assault from enemies, both internal and external, that share the common purpose of debasing our society from the values and beliefs that have historically been it’s strength and core, weakening and ultimately destroying the family bonds that are the fabric of this nation. This will create the need for the totalitarian nanny state where all of your life decisions will be made in your ‘best interest’, and your liberty will be no more – and once surrendered, you’ll never get it back.
Is this an extreme view? It’s happened before, so I don’t think so. The Romans surrendered their republic to the emperors, who grew more and more powerful, with a promise of ‘more bread and circuses’ for the masses. Isn’t it interesting that the Government is so adamant in seeing to it that everybody gets a new digital set top box? God forbid we shouldn’t be distracted by the TV for a few hours a night – someone might actually pick up a book and see the truth.
When I decided to start this blog, I sat down to scribe a couple of sentences that would capture the essence of my thoughts on current trajectory of the Republic, the threats to our liberties, and the responsibilities to our descendants that we bear as Americans – then I figured that someone else has probably already done a far better job than could I.
I stumlbed upon this quote…
“The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.” -Sam Adams
This I think is the charter of The Liberty Bunker, to identify and take a stand against any who would attempt to usurp that which has been granted to each and every one of us by his Creator, in order to preserve it for posterity.
When you enter The Liberty Bunker, please try to leave any profanity at the door – I know that can be difficult given the emotional nature that some discussions take, but I’d eventually like to see kids be able to use this site as a resource. Oh- and close the door behind you when you come in, were you born in a barn?
