  2. No family in American history – not the Roosevelt, not the Adams, and certainly not the Bush families – have paid a higher price in the service of the people than the Kennedys. And to be perfectly honest with you, I’m sick and tired of listening to them get kicked around by the clueless right wing.

It was announced yesterday that Ben Quayle, son of the former vice-president, will be running for congress. We here, at this glorious moment in the history of our great nation, are proud and privileged to bear witness to the birth of the Quayle family political dynasty.

    I need a drink.

  3. Tom I agree there should be no American dynasties. Including ALL of the families you mention. I would include the Kennedy clan as well. There are plenty of American families who have sacrificed for this country. The only difference being that you don’t know their names because they are not part of the ruling class. Don’t kid yourself. Who is the clueless one?

  4. Tom,
Thanks for commenting, it’s good to get some dissenting voices on this blog. First off, I disagree with your premise with respect to those families, as I think Adams sacrificed his entire life and relationship with his family in order to see his dreams fulfilled. But I have to ask, were the Kennedys serving the people, themselves, or perhaps the people of Massachusetts at the expense of the rest of the country? I heard the tales of Kennedys being very supportive of their constituents back home, which was laudable – but it also happened to be their job. Teddy did great damage to this country during his years in the Senate.

If you’ve been to Mass. recently, it is in severe decline. Outlying areas around Boston look very much like rust-belt cities such as Gary, Indiana – just with more trees and swamps. It’s not pretty. It was so bad that I turned down a good job there just based on the fact that it looked like a festering sewer of a place to live.

The best thing that could happen to Mass. is to be through with Kennedy patronage once and for all. And the best thing to happen to the U.S, in years is the passing of Ted Kennedy. I have some respect for Joe(son) because he died on a mission during the war, and Jack for some of his domestic policies, but as for the other two of the sons, I’m glad they can no longer influence the policy in this country.

No one, Republican or Democrat, has a genetic right to a seat in any branch of our Government – people are starting to awaken to the fact that the ultimate power of government lies with them – not the Ivy League, leftist, silver spoon crowd of so-called intellectuals that are so pervasive in government at present. We’ll see how awake the people are in another 9 months.
Oh, and by the way, I don’t know about you, but I’d sooner live under a Quayle administration than a Biden administration – didn’t his son just pull out of the Delaware race – I doubt you’d like to see a Biden dynasty any more than I.

  5. Yeah it’s a good thing that there a re no longer any Kennedys in Congress. JFK, RFK, and Ted, and the others…Legislative hacks one and all.

Rabble rousers who even though they needn’t have done a damn thing because of their wealth decided to go into public service. How dare they!?

    Cheers!!

  6. Speaking of dynasties…

Bush snr was bad enough: but Bush jnr just goes to show what can happen when you elect a functional illiterate with the IQ of a coffee table. And America will find few friends on the international stage if it repeats the mistake and elects the wantonly stupid Sarah Palin in 2012.

Once (with Bush jnr) was a mistake (albeit a costly one); twice (with Palin) will look like you’ve ceased caring about how you as a nation are perceived abroad. I know the Teabaggers don’t care what happens outside their own zip code, but there must be some thinking people in the US?

Good to see you here, Tom.

  7. So Cosmic Navel Lint,
You are of the opinion that one dynasty is better than another? I am not. No one should be elected because of their name or their bloodline.
As for the “international stage”, I don’t care. I look around and see people across the globe burning my flag, protesting my country. To tell the truth, I am beginning think we need to take a good look at these places and ask does their good opinion really matter to us?

  8. Cosmic Navel Lint,

You raise an interesting point! We probably do have enough information about George W. Bush to proffer some guess as to his I.Q.. Last time I checked, Bush released all of his college records and he had better grades than Al Gore as I recall- and at least Al Gore released his.
How about Obama? He doesn’t seem to be able to speak extemporaneously without his beloved teleprompter – what is his I.Q. anyway? Can we determine it from his college scores? Oh, I forgot, he hasn’t released any of that information – I wonder why?
