Here Come’s Cap And Trade(Tax)

Here it comes, folks.

From WSJOnline

Not mentioned in here is the recent United Nations report that says this proposed cap and trade regime might (might!) reduce global temperatures by .1% by 2050. More remarkable because the UN buys into all this bunk and that’s the best they could come up with. That’s because human activity does not have an appreciable effect on the Earth’s cooling and warming cycles, or climate change in general. (They call it climate change now because the Earth actually entered another cooling cycle about ten years ago.) Sorry AlGore, but facts are stubborn things.

I know, I know, hundreds of experts whose livelihoods depend on continued public funding of their research into global warming all say it’s a fact. Hundreds more say it’s just normal cycles and there ain’t much we can do about, but we’re not allowed to listen to those guys.

This is what you get when junk science, anti-capitalists and politicians get together. These are the same people that won’t let us build any nuclear power plants or develop our huge natural gas reserves from shale. Like it or not our energy needs will continue to increase (growing population, advances in technology, etc…) unless of course we dramatically lower our standard of living. By the way, have you noticed that the free market is already capitalizing on the demand for environmentally sound products? So why distort the market with ill conceived government mandates? Isn’t that what happened in the mortgage market and got us into the economic mess we’re in today? (See also – Medicare)

So feel free to ask the questions – If this is settled science, why do they have to ram this bill through under cover of darkness? What exactly are the benefits compared to a significant decline in our standard of living and economic competitiveness, not to mention the as yet unknown unintended consequences? Or is this just another way for liberals to control as much of our lives as they can, and in a very big way?

Finally, a nod to the preferences of the ‘unbiased’ mainstream media. I bet most of you didn’t even know this was happening.

***Update – read this from WSJ Online – From Australia to France, politicians are running AWAY from the Climate Change hysteria. There is no Man Made Global Warming, the truth is finally coming out. Yet Chairman Obeyme is bent on destroying our economy, and Capitalism in general, through energy taxes. Does anyone really think this is about saving the environment?***

  1. Libinator,
As you point out, nobody is paying attention to this and its huge. The implications are enormous and Chairman Obeyme’s Marxist stooges in the house drawing this up have to be among the most scientifically ignorant group of people on the planet. This cap and tax scheme has one goal, exact enough revenue from the citizenry to offset some of the cost of the Socialist medical coverage that they want to enact.
This ‘tax’, as its been called by leading House Democrats(i.e. useful idiots) has absolutely nothing to do with carbon, climate change, global warming, or being ‘green’, which is all a bunch of fully debunked crap. It is an excuse to raise taxes on all Americans through energy consumption, nothing more.
Our Marxist leaders want this money for other purposes – to control the type and level of health care we have available. This, ‘health care reform’ is another scam that they, the Marxists Democrats, want to impose on all of us. They need money to do it and this is how they plan to do it. Guess what Obeyme voters, there aren’t enough rich people to tax in order to get you your free Tylenol at the emergency room. You’re going to pay at the pump and when you pay your utility bill – oh, and forget that raise, because those of you that have private sector jobs can fully expect less available monies for salaries as energy costs skyrocket. Yes, skyrocket -that’s what Chairman Obeyme said during the campaign – but he’s not going to raise your taxes.
But you’re going to get free ‘health care coverage’ right? Guess what idiots, there’s a big difference between health care coverage and treatment. The treatment you’ll receive will be based on what the actuary tables say you can still contribute to tax revenues – just like every other single payer system. It will be single payer, as businesses offset higher energy prices by switching you onto the government health care rolls.
But hey, even though the polar bears are at record numbers, you can at least feel having ‘saved’ them, you pathetic ignorant imbeciles.

  2. Unfortunately, their ultimate goal is to create a dependent class that will be larger than all of the other socio-economic classes so that the libs will always be voted in office. EVERYONE wants something for nothing.

Nobody is going to lower their standard of living. It is made painfully obvious by the libs themselves when they still drive their Hummers and use private jet services to get to their public appearances. (Gee, that’s important.) It’s everybody else that should change.

I don’t want to pay for politicians to waste a bunch of taxpayers’ money by making us pay for their expensive, and wasteful, transportation. I also don’t want to pay for everyone to sit on their ass and pump out kids from different daddies. I have worked hard and made sound choices throughout my life. I should be enjoying the benefits from it, not being punished because people do everything they can to either screw up their own lives or get out of having to work.

Even worse, when these people try to get off of welfare, they can’t afford to live because they have no job skills. However, now we have to pay for single mothers to go to school.

I should have just gotten pregnant when I was 18. I would have had my rent and utilities paid, food stamps for groceries, plus WIC, and I would have gotten my college paid for. Wow, who would have guessed that doing the right thing by yourself and others would screw you in the end?

And people wonder why the country is getting worse…

  3. It passed the House – RINO’s voted for it, not sure who they are yet, but I’ll post when I find out. Inhofe says its dead in the Senate. The Dems can only muster about 30 votes to override the fillibuster at this point. We’ll see.
