Tear Down This Wall

I ask you to watch this video and compare this to the recent Obeyme ‘Apologize For America Tour’. What a man Reagan was espousing the clear principles of freedom and liberty, and at height of The Cold War, standing before the ultimate symbols of the rift between East and West, the Brandenburg Gate and Berlin Wall – not apologizing for America to curry favor with the crowd, but calling out the KGB thug Gorbachev and the Soviet Union for the failures that they perpetrated upon generations of their people. That is the definition of the leader of the free world, and a far cry from what we have occupying the White House at present.

Now, not only do we have to tolerate the sophomoric and naive antics of the Obeyme Administration running down the country abroad to enhance his incredibly narcissistic self-image, we are subject to the mainstream media rolling out imbecilic empty-headed idiots like Meghan McCain to tell us what the Republican Party should be. I keep hearing how ‘we need to repackage the Repbublican brand’ so it appeals to more people. WRONG!
There is a problem with the Republican party, but it has nothing to do with how the Republican brand has been packaged and sold to the American people, it is that the the Republican brand that has been packaged and sold bears no resemblance to anything that can be identified as vaguely Republican. This is due to the big-tent Republicans, both Bush’s, Rove, McCain, & Gingrich, that took the reins of the party after Reagan, and their misguided belief that the party had to change to appeal to various groups -an elitist, racist, and very Democrat-like philosophy in my opinion.
True Republicanism cuts across racial and economic lines on principle and does not need to be sold, it sells itself. For those of you who say that Conservatism, as described by Burke, Kirk, and Reagan is dead, let me remind you that Reagan won two of the largest electoral landslides in the history of the country by espousing three conservative and traditionally Republican themes: Government is too big, taxes are too high, and Communism is evil. That’s it. Create a clear, bright and optimistic American theme, contrast it with the failures of Socialist Democrat’s policies, and people will flock to it from all sides. It has worked before and it will work again.
Not all young people believe in Socialism, but you have to define something in which they can believe, not just present Socialism-lite and say ‘Hey look, we use Mac’s and blackberrys too, so vote for us’. The Republican party needs to teach young people about traditional American and Conservative ideals, and directly contrast this with the Democrats legacy of Slavery, the KKK, Jim Crowe and Segregation. Republicans need to go for the throat with the treasonous, racist Democrats.
Keep the message clear and bright, and the undecided’s will flock to it like bugs to a light. Reagan proved this; we just need the courage of his convictions.
Take time to watch the Reagan address at 1964 RNC – he is awesome and talks about the SAME PROBLEMS THAT WE HAVE TODAY!

  2. OMB,
I have to wonder if you are only watching FOX news, or do you read Obama’s whole speech? I would like to refer you to an article at Media Matters. It is obvious you have hate for the President, but there was more to what he said than your percieved apology!

  3. Fluffy,
I heard Obeyme’s entire speech, live. As much as it pains me to hear the supposed President of the U.S. run down the country abroad, I listened to all of it. I would say that your characterization of my ‘hate’ for Obama, which your leftist code for ‘you’re a racist and just don’t like him because he’s black’, is, not surprisingly, off the mark.
I would characterize my sentiments toward our Dear Leader as contemptuous of his actions and policies. My contempt for him, as President, is reflective of his obvious contempt for this country, it’s founding tenets, all Presidents that have held the office prior to him, the Constitution, and Capitalism. I would feel the same way about any person, of any background or skin color – I draw no distinctions between traitorous scoundrels, which is what he has proven himself to be through his words, actions, and policies.
He is a national disgrace and that’s how I view him.

  4. You’ve lost it. I do not speak in code! I never mentioned race, nor did it enter my mind as I wrote that! Where do you come off with that comment? Where does race come into this? If I wanted to call you a racist, I would say it! Hate and contempt are cut from the same cloth. What is the difference? My comment was not off the mark.
You obviously had an emotional response to some of Obama’s words without considering the balance…his criticism of ‘insidious’ Anti-Americanism. Sometimes I find you irrational.
Why do you insist on putting me in some ‘Leftist’ box, as if I have my thoughts handed to me by an invisible robotic hand? Yes, I lean left, but I can and do think for myself. To imply otherwise by inferring that I even know some secret code has just completely turned me off to this site and the ideas spewed forth, whether I agree with you or not. And there are plenty with which I do agree. I do wish however, and I was hoping, that this might be a place where discussion over factual information might take place, not just ranting over half-truths. There really is no give-and-take here, it always resorts to name-calling and presumption, and your responses always sound angry when you disagree. If I cannot present some food for thought without being “not surprisingly” belittled, I am in the wrong place.

  5. Fluffy,
‘Hate’ is new-speak. If you didn’t intend it that way, then my comments with respect to it are probably ill applied, in your case. However, if you can’t see how I might associate the term ‘hate’ as code, then I don’t think you’re really paying attention to the language.
I have my reasons for my view of the President – and none of them have to do with his race. I don’t like what he’s doing to the country and I believe some of his actions to be treasonous and unconstitutional. Therefore, I don’t really like him very much, if you haven’t noticed.
I’m not putting you in a box anymore than you are by saying all I watch is Fox News. I listened to his speech and although he made some offsetting comments, no American President should ever have the view that we have something for which to apologize to a European audience. I almost puked the first time he did it in Germany(Germany!!!!) during the campaign. Too much of our blood has been spent trying to save them from themselves for that to ever occur.
You are welcome to say anything you like and I appreciate your contributions to blog. If I stick my foot in my mouth, I’ll be the first to admit it! I don’t think that to be the case in my response to you, but I’ve explained my comment and I’ll leave it at that.

  6. Fluffy, as I look at your posts from the past I see stuff like this:

“. . do a little cross referencing sometime…it might shock you.”

I remember one from you saying (I paraphrase here) “you should try reading some stuff from the UK”

    And then in this comment:

    “OMB,
I have to wonder if you are only watching FOX news, or do you read Obama’s whole speech?

    And then you say this:

If I cannot present some food for thought without being “not surprisingly” belittled, I am in the wrong place.

Who is doing the belittling? Your posts always assume that no one has ever read anything that may run contrary to their views. And that you see a bigger picture that no one else in the world has seen.
Although I find your ideas interesting to read I also find it difficult to get past the veiled insults. It is why I usually do not comment on your comments. I am usually angry as soon as I see the underlying implied superiority.

And regardless if BO “balanced”-which I do not agree that he did, the tone of this speech as anti-american is astounding and stands in sharp contrast to the Reagan speech posted.

  7. PJ,
I react negatively to some of the posts here because sometimes I find the views very one-sided, as if perhaps all angles have not been explored…in my own opinion! I honestly and innocently did wonder if the speech had been read, or it came from FOX! It was a question!
As to the cross-referencing comment, it is not as if I don’t think OMB does his research, but I was speaking specifically to cross-referencing elected officials and corporate board positions. It is crazy how much truly corporate rule we have! It shocked me, it might shock someone else. It was a suggestion!
If I suggest reading some foreign paper, perhaps it is because they have a different point of view on an issue that would be interesting to read or contemplate!
“Not surprisingly” was a mirrored quote from OMB who implied I was predictably wrong in accusing him of racism by ‘secret code’!
No superiority intended. Sorry you see it that way. I know I tend to look at articles that support my positions, I think it is probably natural to want to be validated. Does everyone here read the opposing view? Probably not…but how would I know since I can only read what has chosen to be posted.
I have been called many names on this site, and put up with a lot of chain-pulling, and still I keep coming back! Perhaps there is a relationship dynamic here of which you are not aware.
I shall to type in a more humble tone, but if WTF still shines through, in the eternal words of Popeye, “I yam what I yam!”

  8. Ok, you are what you are. I have no problem with that. I too tend to read what I agree with-as you said. That is why I do enjoy your posts. I do however read as much as I can on issues I am interested in. I was just pointing out my observations as regards your banter with OMB. What is WTF? if you don’t mind ‘splainin.

  9. PJ,
WTF is shorthand for an expression of incredulity! As in ‘what are you thinking’?! A colorful epithet if you will. I have been having healthy banter with OMB for decades. In print, things get a bit more biting, but I have only Love.
