When Pirates Attack – Ahhhrrrrggg!

Aaaahhhrrrrrggg!
Let me get this straight. The Somali pirates capture a U.S. flagged vessel. The crew recaptures the ship, the Captain of the ship ends up in the hands of the pirates in a life boat with no gas, floating in the Indian Ocean. Enter the U.S. Navy and the long arm of the Obama Administration. A U.S. Navy war ship vs. a lifeboat.
It would seem that Chairman O would have the upper hand in the ‘negotiations’ for the release of the Captain. To an objective observer, one would anticipate that this would be a rather short conversation. ‘Release the Captain, or die.”, followed by raking the bow of the lifeboat with .50 caliber machine gun or sniper fire so that it begins to sink. What then? Would they kill the Captain in the face of the people who would have to pull them from the water in a few minutes? My guess is not -its possible, but not likely. It is also very possible that he could be killed anyway. My point is that this simple situation should have been resolved within 5 minutes of the U.S. Navy arriving on the scene. That Navy ship should have been within a few yards of that boat at all times, intimidating and imposing their will on the guys in the rowboat.
Enter the Obama Administration. They are ‘studying’ the situation. Based on recent events, I expect a strongly worded statement labeling the pirates actions as ‘unhelpful’, condemning the actions of the U.S. Navy and the American people for creating the circumstances which led to the piracy, and a call for the leadership of the U.N. and our European ‘allies’ to broker a solution to the situation – which would likely the immediate surrender of the U.S. Navy vessel to the pirates.
Remember Biden talking about us needing to ‘gird our loins’ for the big test that would be coming the Obama Administration’s way in the first few months? Is this what he was talking about; four pirates and a hostage in a rowboat? If the Obama administrations performance in this situation is any indication of the ‘decisiveness’ to be seen during an international crisis, may God help us. Don’t think this is lost on our enemies – the Russians, the Chinese, or the radical islamic shit heads. They are all watching this and will act accordingly. This ineptitude is an invitation by the Obama Administration for aggression on an international scale, the likes of which we haven’t seen in 50 years.

If you really think they wouldn’t kill the captain after being fired upon or that one of the bullets wouldn’t hit the captain, then you probably also think all hostage scenarios can be solved by police simply firing randomly into the building they’re in after threatening the gunmen.

Uhhhh, we’re talking about 4 pirates in a lifeboat, not people in a building. And you know what’s weird? When you shoot through a building, it doesn’t start sinking into the ground does it? Get it, genius? That’s a pretty big difference isn’t it? And yes, I do believe one could easily pop holes in the boat from above without the captain being injured. The Marines and/or Sailors on that Navy ship could get this done in about 5 minutes, given the opportunity. The President has no balls – that’s the message that he’s broadcasting to the world.

i feel sorry for the co of the navy ship on station with the pirates. you know that he can do nothing as he is hooked up directly to the white house and hobama. a hundred years ago this situation would have been over in less that 30 seconds. either sink the boat or shoot the pirates or both…

Yes, I agree, the CO’s hands were tied. Thankfully, they did what needed to be done in the end and sniped three of the bastards. But they should have been on top of that boat from the beginning – not a mile away when the hostage Captain jumped out of the boat. You know that’s due to an indecisive White House wanting to control the situation from 5000 miles away. Reminds me of the MacNamara days in the Johnson administration during the Vietnam War.

It was strange that Obama did not even say something such as “we are looking at the situation and working to come up with a solution.” Just one sentence like that would have helped me. Instead I felt that he was avoiding it and waiting it out. At least the Navy took out the bad guys and saved the Captain.

Obama was probably waiting for poll numbers from the ‘pirate dilemma focus group’ to come in from the DNC.

I think he had people reading the blogs where they said stuf like “The President has no balls – that’s the message that he’s broadcasting to the world.” He does not like to not be liked!

Obama at his Dept. of Transportation press conference just now in a side note on the safe return of Capt Phillips and the pirate issue:
“…I want to be very clear that we are resolved to halt the rise of PRIVACY in that region…” ~And everywhere else too I think! What a slip.
