Straight Talk – Daniel Hannan, MEP***Must See Update Below***
By omb on Mar 25, 2009 in Finance, Porkulus
Saw this on American thinker. Listen how Daniel Hannan takes Prime Minister Gordon Browne to task before the EU General Assembly, for the folly of deficit spending as stimulus. He should run for Congress in the U.S., I’d vote for him. I saw the same video over on Atlas Shrugged with the comment that ‘since it’s no longer a requirement that a President be a Natural born citizen, he should run for President’. Ok, I’ll buy that – he has my vote for President, too.
Now contrast this performance with that of one of America’s finest Congressional representatives; U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown, (D-Fl). Thank God that we have such competent representation working on our current financial ‘crisis’ and spending trillions in the process. Video and text translation provided by Iowahawk

Wow! If you weren’t confident in our Congress before, this should have alleviated all of your fears. All I can say is that at least for these 3 minutes or so, they weren’t raising my taxes. Perhaps all members should be required to do the same for all high school teams as well as college – in fact, they should probably read into the Congressional record, the names of all high school and college athletes – and non-athletes for inclusiveness.

So at least the Brits have one person talking sense. What do we have? We have a president who has submitted an outrageous budget which he knows is outrageous, in the hopes that after certain things are cut out of it, we’ll say ‘look, it’s not 3 trillion anymore, it’s only 2 trillion! We have a budget we can all be happy with’. Congress will be the heroes again, because they cut out 400 billion out of it. Again we get the flea circus.

The UK is about 10 years ahead of the US in the socialism conversion process. Mr. Hannan would indeed make more of impact if he became a naturalized US citizen.

Supernaut, I don’t think it’s a 10 year spread. I think we are closing the gap quickly. And yes it would be very refreshing to hear someone in our congress speak out like this and say the things the people are actually saying. Instead, we are getting nothing but smoke and mirrors.
